That however does not mean that the employees practice tolerance or acceptance. It does however give you a means to take action if/when problems arise. For most corporations you can find their diversity policy on their website. It's easiest to just go that route when you can. It's very offensive to assume what someone uses as a pronoun. It's very endearing and acceptable to always ask, It creates a comfort level, for both you and the interviewee.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365439307897197509.post-77171499067968710842012-03-27T09:57:39.153-04:002012-03-27T09:57:39.153-04:00It is completely acceptable and polite to ask some...It is completely acceptable and polite to ask someone's preferred pronouns and if they have a name they prefer to have used. It is always better to ask than to assume, as it helps the interviewee to know that you are dedicated to respecting them and their gender presentation, and it may serve to help them relax as well.TxC Jennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10132741485703358362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365439307897197509.post-80593194580247049562012-03-01T00:07:58.209-05:002012-03-01T00:07:58.209-05:00I apologize for the delayed response. For example, if they appear as male (short hair, tie, using male pronouns in reference to themselves), then go with male pronouns and vice versa with females. I know when I did my phone interview, the person asked for me, and I responded with "this is he." He has never slipped on pronouns luckily, including when introducing me to my new coworkers. If he had asked which pronoun to use, I would not have been offended. I would have simply answered with my preferred pronoun usage (male). I will write about the next step, once hired and dealing with being misgendered, next week. I hope that helps you. I typically try to use gender neutral language, but that can get awkward. Is it appropriate to ask for a preferred pronoun, or does doing so make it more awkward for the interviewee? My biggest worry is mis-gendering a potential employee and making them feel unwelcome before they've even started.shananananahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06038611695457630682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365439307897197509.post-70616312405685241342012-02-14T21:44:09.132-05:002012-02-14T21:44:09.132-05:00Right on!!!Right on!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365439307897197509.post-33855238623061831252012-02-09T22:15:20.537-05:002012-02-09T22:15:20.537-05:00Marley: Thank you for the feedback and I'm gla...Marley: Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad to know that you could relate to the article. The way I see it is each column has a purpose. This column is suppose to be in a genderqueer or gender non conforming point of.view. Your girlfriend and mother are not either, so why write from their point of view? You can write about how you view others dealing with your identity, but stay in the roght point of view. I am not picking you or your blog apart. I am only giving an opinion that I am sure a lot of us share. I was given guys the idea of what drag names were. I never suggested anyone take another's name. If you actually read my article, then you would know that.

Secondly, my drag name has been Chance Encounters since early spring 2002. It was something my Drag Daddy at the time helped me create based off my real(legal) name, Chance. New year's day 2006 (Jan 1st, 2006) was my last performance until this past fall when my friends talked me into making a comeback. My middle initial "W" stands for Wulf. I decided to give my drag persona a middle name on the comeback.

Now, how about you not jump to conclusions or opinions on someone without all of the facts?
